Powering a sustainable future

As the UK pursues it’s net zero ambitions, electricity generation infrastructure will play an increasingly important role in providing clean, reliable power for a secure and sustainable future.

Powering a sustainable future

Regardless of whether the wind blows or the sun shines, nuclear energy has powered the UK with low carbon energy, saving millions of tons of CO2 emissions and will be vital to the UK achieving net zero targets.

Exyte Hargreaves have been at the forefront of shaping low carbon energy generation projects in the UK for over 60 years. We deliver complete HVAC systems that create safe, controlled environments within the infrastructure that powers the UK with clean energy.

Our expertise in integrated engineering solutions for controlled environments includes the design, procurement, manufacture, installation and commissioning of HVAC systems plus associated structural steelwork and civil engineering.

Our presence in the energy sector spans all the way back to Calder Hall, Sellafield, UK; the world’s first commercial nuclear power plant which produced electricity for 47 years.

Since then, we’ve built our reputation in delivering high integrity HVAC systems in the most highly regulated, complex environments, working to the exacting requirements and standards of the nuclear industry.

Our experience includes the HVAC systems on Dungeness Power Station in 1968 and over the years we have played a key role in the delivery of systems at Dounreay, Wylfa, Heysham 1 & 2 and Sizewell B amongst many others.

Today, our continued work in securing a sustainable future with clean energy and supporting in the UK’s net zero ambitions continues as we deliver the HVAC systems across 5 areas of Conventional Island, Hinkley Point C. Our scope begins with the design and takes us through to pre-commissioning. Once complete, the twin EPR power station will provide zero carbon electricity to six million homes and will make a major contribution to the UK’s move to clean energy; something we are proud and excited to be part of.
