You can be anything - Lucy Pinter, coded welder

13 April 2022

In the first of our ‘you can be anything’ series, Lucy Pinter, Work Winning Graduate, shares her experience of working in manufacturing as a coded welder.

Throughout the series, we’ll be exploring the various careers that women across the business are in and hope to inspire more women into the industry by breaking down misconceptions and bias often associated with roles and the skills required to do them.

Three years ago, Lucy graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Creative writing.

A year ago, she joined our graduate development programme and a month ago started her three month rotation in manufacturing.

Today, with no prior welding experience and full training, she is a trained coded welder. With the support provided by Exyte Hargreaves she is thriving and thoroughly enjoying the role.

Who knew that skills gained from a different role would be perfect for welding such as working well under pressure and good hand eye coordination.

Are you ready for a new challenge? A change of career? We currently have a number of exciting opportunities available for welders with full training provided so no prior experience is necessary.
