Toby Hallam enters World Skills UK Competition
Exyte Hargreaves' Apprentice Technician Toby Hallam, Apprentice has been selected to represent the North West in the World Skills UK IT Support Technician competition!
World Skills supports young people in their apprenticeships through competition based training, assessment and benchmarking to test members’ abilities to continuously raise standards and achieve best in class skills.
Toby was nominated for the competition by the college he attends and has already successfully passed the first two stages of the competition. The first stage consisted of a basic knowledge and understanding test which took place virtually and the second stage, his skills were put to the test with a challenge involving setting up a virtual computer in the cloud in a specific way and to fix any bugs or issues with it. In addition to this, he was asked to reconfigure a Cisco packet tracer so it was set up correctly.
In the upcoming final stage Toby will be heading off to Scotland where he will be able to demonstrate his abilities and test his skills in a practical set off challenges featuring real hardware.
Toby said ‘I'm really proud to have been chosen to represent the North West in the World Skills UK IT Support Technician competition. I'm excited to go to the finals at New College Lanarkshire to meet the other competitors and give it my best go!’
