Black History Month at Exyte Hargreaves

6 October 2021

This October we are supporting Black History Month, an event that has been celebrated for over 30 years and was founded to recognise the value and fundamental contribution that black people have made to society yet has far too often been overlooked.

Black History Month

Black history month provides an opportunity share and understand the impact that black heritage has had on shaping the nation and celebrate the continued achievements of black people. It is also a time to reflect on what more we need to do to ensure black history and culture is recognised all year round and to take action against racism and discrimination.

At Exyte Hargreaves we are committed to providing equal opportunities and equal treatment for all people, regardless of background and are focused on further growth in diversifying our workforce and driving forward an inclusive culture. Whilst we’ve already made some great progress as a business to create opportunities for everyone and an inclusive culture where every individual can thrive, we recognise that we are part of an industry that still faces many challenges around equality, diversity and inclusion and there is still more we need to do.

Throughout black history month we’ll be celebrating the achievements of black people in the industry, enriching our knowledge of black culture and taking the opportunity to discuss what more we can do to accelerate fundamental industry change in supporting and increasing diversity and the representation of black people across engineering and construction.
