Jordan Caldwell joins as BIM Technician
We're thrilled to welcome Jordan Caldwell to Exyte Hargreaves as our new BIM Technician. Jordan has a history of working in the construction industry and brings a deep knowledge of new technology to aid our digital transformation journey.
Trading Places
As the subtitle suggests, Jordan comes from a trade background having spent some time as an electrician and plumber. While doing the work he found himself drawn towards design, an interest he supplemented by watching factual entertainment programmes such as Grand Designs and Homes Under the Hammer. It was during an Art & Design degree that he began learning about CAD, becoming fascinated by the ‘science’ behind different things. Following a degree in Interior Design at the University of Chester he was asked to teach the rest of the class!
Suspended Reality
Next for Jordan was a Digital Internship at a company called Visual Architects in Hyde. He started looking into a Masters in AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality) and then Architecture in Liverpool. When professors questioned the volume of BIM electives he’d chosen, Jordan was delighted to learn there was a BIM degree available and switched to an MSc. The rest, as they say, is history (or the future as Jordan may argue).
An Exyting Future
After university ended, Jordan found himself working in the Hospitality sector, but the pressure of COVID enforced lockdowns hit that business like it did for many others. It was at that time he found the role of BIM Technician at Exyte Hargreaves. The opportunity to work alongside the Manufacturing and DIS teams was attractive in terms of the digital transformation journey we’re undertaking.
Jordan says: “I’m lucky that my work and my hobbies complement one another. BIM never stops and there’s much change coming as we move into Industry 4.0 (the Cyber Revolution). I’m looking forward to being involved in modernisation and technological advancement at Exyte Hargreaves.”
