Exyte Hargreaves' Digital Transformation

Exyte Hargreaves • 10 June 2021

Exyte Hargreaves are pleased to announce that continuing our successful digital transformation foundation year we are starting on our next stage with the adoption of our Digital Innovation and Systems department.

Digital transformation at EHL

The foundation aspect of our business change was focused on people, processes and solution in a business wide change, starting from a fresh business perspective driven from the Managing Director Andy Sneyd.

‘Most of my career I have championed digital innovation to scenario plan, improve accuracy, use data for decision making, to reduce task time of engineering, procurement and scheduling as we build and as critically to use digital imagery to better understand the challenges, to better inform clients through each stage and engage constructors on key construction features and finally help operators and users in how a building would operate at its optimum.

Three years ago, a decision was made in Exyte Hargreaves to become paper free and embrace digitalisation in every aspect of what we do. Pete’s appointment was the first critical step. It is a continuous journey and the refocus of Pete Foster’s role and that of his team is yet another step in further advancing our digital ambitions.’

As a result of all that has been achieved, Pete Foster's role has evolved to Head of Digital Innovation and Systems to reflect the business advancing further in digitalisation, he said “My initial brief was to review the current business processes, develop an initial digital change plan and implement within the first 12-18 months. Following this we are now moving onto our next stage, implementing integration between the solutions, focusing on internal CPD and training, and looking at further digital implementations.”

Exyte Hargreaves’ digital transformation has embraced each of our values:

Bravery – accepting change, taking on the risks of a major digital transformation, and empowering the teams to speak out and be listened too.

Challenge – from the initial challenge on how we used to work, to the day-to-day challenges and feedback on our digital changes, this is a critical value that everyone follows.

Support – success so far has come from the support of the business, and the support from each other in the implementation.

Wellbeing – recognising that change can be a drain on people we assist and help each other evidenced by the success we have had so far.

As can be seen by the image, the foundation stage introduced a lot of new solutions and processes into the business including:

  • BIM Accreditation
  • Dalux – Common Data Environment.
  • Revit – Design and Manufacturing detail.
  • Stabicad – Design calculations (within Revit).
  • Stratus – Digital Manufacturing (via Revit).
  • P6 EPPM – Labour and project management.

Our next stage of implementation will include:

  • Dalux AR – next step with Dalux to provide model-based visuals in manufacturing and on site.
  • Inventor – for our offsite steel and specific manufacturing configurator.
  • Data Warehouse via Cobuilder – structured data is key to solution integration.
  • API integrations of data and tools – one source of truth and a golden thread.
  • CostOS – Estimating and costs via Revit/IFC.
  • Dalux Handover and FM solutions – supporting our on-site offering.

Support continues with internal CPD’s on a weekly basis which will be further developed across all areas of the business to provide our Exyte Hargreaves’ team members with the best training and development to continue to advance the business further digitally.
