In the appointment of E,D&I chair, Lucy will be working with the business to advance our ambitions to create balance and opportunity within the workforce and inspire change across the industry and wider sectors. The election of an E,D&I chair is an opportunity for the business to make a difference and apply the energy needed to create a culture where all talent can thrive from every background.
Speaking of her new appointment Lucy Pinter said ‘’I’m delighted to have been elected for the ED&I Chair within the business, it is such a necessary step in order for us to drive forward equality and diversity not only within this business but the sector and wider sectors as a whole. I’ve always been passionate about ensuring everyone is given equal rights and opportunities, both inside and outside of the workplace and look forward to being a part of the change. Now it’s time to empower, to celebrate and to provide a culture where everyone is welcome.”
The appointment comes as Exyte Hargreaves focuses on further growth in diversifying the workforce, creating equal opportunities and driving forward an inclusive culture. The business has already made some great strides in this area by attracting a broader pool of talent, creating a culture where individuals can thrive and embraced flexible working to support people from a wider range of backgrounds. Appointing an E,D&I chair will be essential to accelerating and achieving our ambitions and leading the way in the industry.
Whilst the lack of equality, diversity and inclusion in the engineering and construction industries has been identified across the sectors and been the topic of discussion recently, we haven’t seen the progress we need to overcome it. As a business we want to lead the way in taking action to not just simply address the issues but to take the necessary steps to overcome them and deliver on our commitment. A commitment that is essential for futureproofing the skills needed for long-term sustainability in the industry. Being a diverse and inclusive business will foster innovation, creativity, increase productivity and create a culture where individuals from all backgrounds can achieve the incredible.
Andy Sneyd, Managing Director said “Equality, diversity and inclusion in engineering and construction is an age old issue, one that is crucial to our success as an industry. It is vital that we draw upon the skills, knowledge and expertise from attracting and retaining a wider pool of talent to innovate, perform better and work towards building a more sustainable future.
We’ve appointed Lucy as our E,D&I Chair to drive our commitment in becoming an inclusive and diverse business, leading the change in the industry. I look forward to working collaboratively to grow the initiatives already in place and to welcome new opportunities to accelerate our progress.”
